- Applications
- Suitable materials are chosen based on the application and the substances the tank will store. Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, or plastics like polyethylene or fiberglass.
- Large plates of the chosen material are cut according to the tank’s design specifications. Precision in cutting is crucial for ensuring accurate dimensions and proper fit during assembly.
- The cut plates are then formed into the desired shapes using processes such as rolling or press braking. This forms the cylindrical body of the tank and the flat bottom.
- The formed plates are welded together to create the cylindrical body of the tank. The welding process must adhere to industry standards to ensure structural integrity and leak-tightness.
- The flat bottom is attached to the cylindrical body through welding or other joining methods. Proper alignment and welding techniques are essential for ensuring a secure and durable connection.
- Fittings, nozzles, manways, and other necessary accessories are installed on the tank according to the design specifications. This may include inlet and outlet connections, vents, and inspection ports.
- Rigorous quality control measures are implemented throughout the manufacturing process. Non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as X-ray or ultrasonic testing, may be employed to ensure weld quality and material integrity.
- The completed tank undergoes pressure testing to verify its structural integrity and leak-tightness. This is typically done using water or another suitable testing medium.
- External surfaces may undergo treatments such as sandblasting and painting to enhance corrosion resistance and provide a finished appearance.
